So in 9 months, there will be a boat load of births.
Do we think this will be a mini generation?
Quelenials? I just wanna go on record here with the name coining.

Funny how the generation that coined “ok boomer” is going to have its own baby boom.

Not to steal your username but despite the quarantine, I don’t think the lingering threat of misery and possible death mixed with economic downturn is going to lead to a noticeable bump in birth rates.

I highly doubt it.

I’ve heard “Coronials” already...

Coronials?

I don't know, you think a hospital is going to be an ok place to be 9 months from now? I'm not sure we're through this then

Followed by their becoming"quaranteenagers", I've read

I’ve seen some people say “coronials” but I don’t know how I feel about it. Either way, if they come early or if the parents started a bit early, then they’re getting the short end of the stick with a holiday time birthday.

You’re assuming people have and employ foresight. I disagree with this.

Anxiety doesn’t usually lead to sexy time.

Nor poor nutrition, burgeoning debt, or actually spending every waking moment with the other person.

Maternity wards are actually the worst hit already.

Not everyone is anxious

I would say no but could be wrong? We were looking to add another, but now on pause. The unknown economic impact of the virus is huge, let alone the fact my wife would rather do literally anything else than put herself in a position to visit a doc/hospital anytime soon.
Some people won’t care about the economics, some won’t care about the virus. I think more will lean towards caution, but people don’t always act in what I feel is a rational way.

People have been having babies without hospitals for ages. Have it home in a tub. It’s closer to nature.

No, and severe economic depression doesn't usually result in people starting new families or expanding existing ones, as long as birth control is still available.

Right, I’m well aware of how stupid people are, but you also have to consider the current birth rate . M illennials were already having fewer children then Gen Xers. We will never see anything close to the baby boomer generation in regards to increases in birth rate.

The Boomers were conceived in celebration. This generation gets to be conceived in boredom.

A friend of mine just returned from Panama City, FL. However, he has also begun his own 2 week self quarantine.

Gotta say, if I hadn’t sterilized myself, this even would lead me to having more kids, not less. However, none of the women in my family ever viewed a hospital as a hygienic place to have a baby, so our perspective might be a bit different.

People used to make their own tools from metal, but nearly no one knows how to be a blacksmith now. While people did used to do that all the time, the practical knowledge is long gone. And knowledge or not, neither of my kids were making it out alive without medical intervention.
Also, I want to see your bathtub. Mine is in the house.

An y premature at risk infant is probably sealed in a bubble right now

If you wanted to make an axe out of your corolla, there is a youtube video for that.
If you wanted to birth your baby in the field while popping a squat in the middle of your hay gathering, there is a youtube video for that.
Yes, you are right. Not many people are as handy as they used to be, but don’t discount the entire human population yet. Few of us still do know how to work with our hands.

What do you think the infant morality rate was before the invention of hospitals?

Totally agree, we’ve got one and I could take or leave a second (and def not right now) . Hard stop after that

There was a conversation on here about parents of newborns being told routine shots and checkups were not going to be happening. That which predates the big event is no less perilous.

I just had a terrible idea for a “nailed it!” show...for medical practices.

The problem is, they won’t die, they’ll just infect the people at risk who will.

I saw that, and it scares me until I thought about it. Vaccine or no, I'm not taking my two month old outside my house/yard right now. So who cares if he/she is vaccinated for pertussis. There's no pertussis in my house.

Well, the fittest survived and unfit did not....so probably same as with Coronavirus roaming the planet.
